The Caledon Library is hosting a Midsummer Night's Dream Exhibit in the lawn next to the Library as part of the SL Shakespeare Summer. I'm especially excited because a few of my Titania photos are part of the presentation. The director, JJ Drinkwater, incorporated quotes from the play with the photos, and the are wonderful! Please take time to check the exhibit out (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Victoria%20City/30/180/23).

Boy, I haven't blogged here in ages. Of course, it feels like I haven't had much time for personal projects lately. But! I'm working to make more time in SL for fun.

One of the projects that has really grown - and of which I'm especially pleased - is the weekly book events list. In addition to events from the Caledon Library and Bookstacks, I am including contributions from about 4 or 5 other libraries and book groups. Anyone with a book event is welcome to submit their information to me in-world. I take information through noon on Mondays. I send the events out on Monday evenings. If you want to receive the notecard, Bookstacks has installed one of those subscribe-o-matic doohickies. Visit the pub in-world and you'll find the subscribe sign.

Earlier this week I turned in to Prim Perfect a couple of articles about the new Rustica sim and its incredible creators, Maxwell Graf and Lyyric Fei. I really don't like writing to a deadline, so I'd like to back off from writing for the magazine and focus on the blog. I have several articles I'd like to write for it as the writing bug bites again.

I'm working on a quick blog article for Prim Perfect on Rustica's new Metropolitan Collection, which if finally available. Also working on another very late article on a wonderful furniture store, Gus* & Painter.

My last photograph class of the series in tomorrow. I turned in my modeling portfolio shots, but they weren't very strong in my opinion. My "large product shot" last night went well. The critique was dead on. I'm always surprised when I find I'm blinded to the obvious while focusing on the details. I must say, the photos I've done for Prim Perfect have helped, simply because I have lots of practice.

I made it to Colonic sale at Relic. I picked up a few things, but I haven't had time to dig through them much.

When I put up my pre-fab a few months ago, there was a room I absolutely hated. It has this dated-looking wallpaper. Because of the way the windows were textured in, they walls were set up as no mod. Si "paneled" the walls with a nice, warm beige wall texture with white trim. It almost glows in when the sun hits it. Now I'm really looking forward to putting some furniture in the room.

Si and I also did a little exploring over the weekend. We ended up at the Orange Island build. It will be interesting to see if it builds the community it hopes to, and if so, how it will grow and shape itself.

It was a nice weekend in my virtual world. I went by Fiction & Latte to catch the tail end of the poetry reading. After that I popped over to Photo Island for the weekend student gathering. One of the other students put up a photo she was having problems with and we discussed it. One of the instructors also gave a lot of good, general information about photographic an event. I ended the evening by checking out a build a friend and her RP crew are working on. They put their blueprints on floor at scale and starting building that way. Great idea.

Saturday involved Bookstacks' Trivia on War. I did a miserable job, that isn't really a surprise. Other than some WW2 poetry and Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, I avoid war as a topic in my reading. Later on Wendy Curtiss played the Pub at Bookstacks. She has a great voice. Catch her if you get the opportunity. Simeon and I spent some time scouting places for my landscape photo assignment and caught up with a friend.

I spent a good part of Sunday morning shooting photos and eavesdropping on a conversation between a man and woman. Hint - if it is a personal discussion, have it in private IM. Trust me, if I'd had my chat log turned on, I'd be deleting the names and posting some of the juicier lines here. Basically the guy was a jerk, telling the woman that he didn't care about her "human" only about her SL avatar. Also, he doesn't want to talk about his wife. And, um, the sex was great the one time they had it. There are a lot of great guys out there, so I hope she drops him soon and finds someone who is less of a user.

We were back at Fiction & Latte on Sunday for a Moochers' Meet, the informal discussion by people who originally met at Bookmooch. A couple of F&L's regulars sat in as well. Always an interesting discussion, but it went on for about 3 hours. Mostly just puttering after that. Simeon and I did draft out a Bookstacks schedule through the end of May.

It was just a typical SL weekend, filled with friends, book discussions, and exploring new places. Now if I could just catch up on my sleep.

Since January, I've rent half an open sim from Reach Isles. The half sim is spacious, and my neighbor on the other side is quiet, nice, and has good taste (nothing tacky in my line of sight). But I was pondering upgrading to a full sim simply to get more prims.

Then came the announcement...

Linden Labs is doubling the available prim allotment on open sims, and the increase in price is pretty minimal. Now, I will have the prims I want without the hassle of moving. Can I hear a w00t!? I can even afford the primmage of a few Botanicals trees.

I have been extremely busy, both in RL and SL, since the first of the year. I finished my last SL task with a due date last night (I put together an ad to run in the next issue of Prim Perfect - the first ad I've created). Then I went looking for a dance machine for Bookstacks. The one we've been using has some hokey dances in it. When I finished, I caught up on my shopping. (I love this bolero top from Bare Rose - the scarf floats in the breeze).

After that I simply wandered. I found myself at the Plumeria resort at Cocololo. I simply explored last night, but I will make a trip back to take some snaps. Not only is it a relaxing place to enjoy some sun, it has a great boat tour, sky diving and a secluded, romantic cabin (one of Barnesworth Anubis's fabulous prefabs). When I get around to taking the photos, I'll also post the SLURL. Sorry - I was simply enjoying my wanderings.

I'm looking forward to a laid back weekend. Simeon is covering book trivia at Bookstacks - topic is "the law" in books. On Sunday, Lludmila will be leading a discussion on Children's Literature at our new Bookstacks forum area, which Simeon has been designing for these discussions. Both events are open to everyone, btw.
